Señora Grant-Richards

Hello students and parents,

Welcome to the start of school!  I am super excited to be back teaching 7th and 8th grade Spanish, and 7th grade and 8th grade English. In ELA, we will continue using a new curriculum called Amplify. It is based in the "Science of Reading". There will be a focus on "close reading", and reading and writing fluency. We will be studying both literary and nonfiction units. This is a great opportunity to use the latest in cognitive science research and tried and true practices to reach all our learners and move them forward in ELA.

Thanks,

Señora Grant-Richards

Welcome! ¡Bienvenidos!

I am looking forward to getting to know you this year.  This is my 18th year in the Loma Prieta District.  I taught French and Spanish for 10 years in Los Angeles before coming here.  I have my Masters of Education from UCLA. In the picture with my family, I realized a 25-year goal of visiting the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico: Mayan ruins, jungle, coral reefs, colonial cities, fascinating people, whale sharks, and sea turtles.  It was amazing!!! I graduated from the Merit program at the Krause Institute, where I learned a lot about student-centered learning, tech and collaboration.  I am looking forward to meeting my new students in my 7th and 8th grade Spanish and English classes.
